Champagne Baggage

A look through the most beautiful and distorted rose colored lens. . .providing insight on art, design, fashion, tasty-bits, social events, people, and anything that fuels a bubbly-cultured-good time and remember to pour your champagne at a slight slant.

When you are all the same thing… If I’m a black queen, and you’re a black queen, we can’t call each other black queens. That’s not a read that is just a fact. So we talk about your ridiculous shape, your saggy face, your tacky clothes…

Grit & Glitter (click for article)

As a gay New Yorker I feel that it is my civic duty to share this fascinating article on a subculture few outside of certain groups even know exists. What is interesting is that this article examines Balls in Chicago-which provides an interesting comparison to the new York Scene.

And if you don’t know what vogueing is, I suggest you watch Paris is Burning.

As Dorian Corey once said “SHADE IS I DON’T TELL YOU YOU’RE UGLY BUT I DONT HAVE TO TELL YOU BECAUSE YOU KNOW YOU’RE UGLY…AND THATS SHADE.”

The film is a must, a way in which mainstream (white) America can look into a world that lives right below the surfece-a world of glamor, power, shade, hate, love, family, and of course…vogueing.
